no. a free Meetup account is enough to join unplugged club Budapest events. some individual events may have a participation fee, which will always be indicated on the event page.

keeping a community and organizing regular events comes with costs — from Meetup itself to venues, materials and the time that goes into planning and hosting. small participation fees help make it possible to keep the community active and sustainable.

please cancel your RSVP as soon as you know you can't make it.

for free events especially, people sometimes confirm their attendance but don't show up or cancel, which makes it difficult to plan accurately and can take a spot away from someone else who would have liked to come.

for paid events, tickets are generally non-refundable, but please check the individual event for its specific cancellation policy.

there are two payment options because they work slightly differently.

paying directly via the link in the event description means you pay the 400 HUF event contribution directly to the unplugged club Budapest. since this payment happens outside Meetup, you won't automatically appear on the Meetup attendee list — we'll add you manually once your payment is received.

paying via Meetup automatically registers you for the event, which is more convenient. however, Meetup doesn't support HUF, and their payment system also applies fees. this means the price shown on Meetup needs to be higher than the 400 HUF direct contribution, and part of the payment is deducted in fees before the club receives it.

for this reason, we prefer direct payments whenever possible: more of your contribution stays with the club and helps support the time and costs involved in organizing the events.

Meetup doesn't support HUF as an event currency, so event payments made through Meetup are listed in EUR. the platform also applies fees to event payments, and fees are deducted from the amount received by the organizer. because of this, the Meetup price is higher than the direct contribution, while the amount the club receives after fees is roughly equivalent to 400 HUF.

that's why we recommend paying directly via the link in the event description whenever possible.

no. if you're joining an event without a membership and paying the 400 HUF contribution directly, please don't pay through Meetup.

simply use the payment link in the event description. once your payment is received, we'll add you to the Meetup attendee list manually.

you'll then receive the same event information as other attendees.

once you purchase the monthly membership, you'll receive a promo code.

for each tier 1 event you'd like to attend:

1. open the event on Meetup

2. click attend

3. enter your membership promo code and click the arrow to confirm

4. once the total price turns to € 0.00, click submit.

you'll be registered and automatically appear on the Meetup attendee list.

you don't need to contact us or wait to be added manually.

the membership lets you join unlimited tier 1 events during the month with one monthly contribution.

instead of making a separate 400 HUF contribution for every event, you simply use your membership promo code when registering for each tier 1 event.

this also means you can register yourself directly through Meetup without waiting for manual confirmation.

the WhatsApp group is for people who have already met through an unplugged club Budapest event and want to stay connected beyond it.

once you've joined an event in person, you're welcome to ask to be added to the group.

yes! the WhatsApp group is a space for the community to stay connected between Meetup events. people sometimes organize informal gatherings, share ideas or suggest activities there.

your friend is very welcome to join an unplugged club Budapest event first. once they've met the community in person, they can ask to be added to the WhatsApp group too.

Meetup helps us keep meeting new people, while WhatsApp helps us stay connected with the people we've already met.

keeping events on Meetup also gives new people an easy way to discover the community and helps create a little accountability around showing up. the small participation fees for some events also help keep the community sustainable.

absolutely! you don't need to live in Budapest to join. if you're visiting the city and would like to meet people or experience Budapest in a slightly different way, you're very welcome to join us.

not at all. come whenever an event catches your interest. you can join once, come every week, or simply drop in when you're in Budapest.
